Transportation

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

There are several ways to get around in Nicaragua. Of course there are the normal ways if you own a car or motorcycle, but here are some of the other ways to get around:

Public transportation: this can include bus or taxi. Bus fair to get anywhere within Managua is C$2.50 which equals about US$0.11
Less common, but still very prevalent is to travel via horse or ox-drawn cart.
Horse-back riding is still used as well, more often outside of Managua.
Many people travel via-bicycle, however, even this can be a luxury.
And by far, the most common form of transportation is "el once" or "the 11", meaning walking... this is definitely the cheapest way to get around, and means that many people live and work within walking distance when possible.
