Around Managua, most of the roads are paved, but in some places (especially on the edges of town), a dirt road is your only option.
During the rainy season, this becomes difficult, as it can rain pretty heavily, and deep gouges are formed in the roads as the water drains. Below is a picture of a severe rain we had last month:

It’s probably safe to say that driving around down here is never boring!
